P Probationary Judge - Able to judge in NSW only
*
Able to judge British
Shorthairs only.
Why become a Judge?
Most of us who have become Judges have been in the New South Wales Cat Fancy for a number of years and feel we have an inner calling to give more to the Fancy. A Judge can come from any walk of life.
We realise that it is a great privilege to be able to handle and judge the beautiful cats that pass through our hands at shows.
It is a great responsibility.
A Judge must be able to:
Determine that a cat conforms to a standard. To issue a Challenge Certificate enabling it to progress to Champion and further titles, is the result of years of study and understanding of cats and the cat fancy.
Have the responsibility to uphold and keep a standard to health, as quality of breeding stock and presentation on the show bench is paramount.
Possess a manner which can educate, listen and advise.
Be available to any exhibitor or member of the public seeking information on breeds of cats.
To become a Judge you must:
-
Hold NSW CFA membership for five years.
-
Possess good integrity within the Cat Fancy.
-
Have bred a litter within the current course applied for.
-
Be
trained and be a current Steward at Shows and have held other positions in
affiliate Shows such as Show Secretary, Show Manager, Chief Steward, Card
room, Trophies.
-
Sit for an entrance exam showing you have knowledge of the Rules and Regulations of the fancy, and basic knowledge of the breeds.
-
Not miss any lectures without a valid or medical reason.
-
Attend lectures and hands on training, completing all assignments each month as required.
Judges Training Course
The training course is undertaken over a period of 12 to 24 months depending on how many breeds are included in that course.
At the end of the course candidates undertake a written exam, practical exam and personal interview with the Examination Panel.
Candidates who pass, progress to be a Probationary Judge, which allows them to judge kittens and issue challenges to entire and desexed adult cats.
Affiliate Clubs invite Probationary Judges to judge an assignment at their show. Assignments cannot be solicited through Clubs.
Probationary Judges must complete a minimum of 10 assignments and probationary status must be maintained for a minimum period of 1 year.
Once a Probationary judge has completed all requirements satisfactorily, a full licence is then issued.
A Judge may not commence a course for another Group within 1 year of being issued with a Probationary Judges Licence for a group.
